Introducing the Teams Advisory Group at Street Child United
At Street Child United (SCU), we are continually striving to enhance our programs, activities, and events to better serve our community. In line with this commitment, we are delighted to announce the launch of the Teams Advisory Group (TAG), a new initiative that harnesses the invaluable expertise and insights of our partners. As specialists, in their field, these partners are pivotal in enhancing SCU’s programmes, activities, and events.
The composition of TAG
The TAG is composed of four team leaders selected from past SCU events. These leaders have been carefully chosen for their experience and dedication, and they have been briefed on their roles and responsibilities within the group. This initiative is a significant step towards decentralising decision-making at SCU, ensuring that our processes are more accessible and responsive. Teams will have a direct line to their respective TAG member for specific documents or information, fostering a streamlined communication channel with SCU. To maintain the authenticity of feedback and inputs, SCU members will not be part of the group. The regional groups for the TAG are: South America, Africa, Asia and Middle East, Europe & USA.
The purpose of TAG
The establishment of the TAG aims to achieve several key goals. First, it seeks to leverage specialised knowledge and skills that the SCU team may not possess internally, ensuring access to essential expertise. Additionally, TAG provides objective insights, offering unbiased perspectives on team engagement, particularly in advocacy efforts. It also focuses on strengthening networks to enhance the capacities of SCU’s partners and acts as a consultative body for challenges and decisions faced by SCU. Moreover, TAG plays a critical role in ensuring SCU remains accountable to its team engagement strategy. Each TAG member will lead a regional group, chairing meetings that may be held monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly, depending on the group’s needs. These members will collectively represent their regions, facilitating an open and honest exchange of ideas. TAG will convene quarterly with SCU’s head of teams to report on discussions, activities, and feedback. When SCU requires input from the teams, the head of teams will reach out to TAG, and the chair member will relay this feedback back to SCU.
The TAG will facilitate regional group meetings at least once every three months, with additional meetings scheduled as needed to foster an open environment for teams to share best practices and knowledge. TAG members will chair these meetings, guiding discussions to ensure productive outcomes. Teams can propose discussion topics and conduct workshops or seminars to delve into specific areas, encouraging pair learning and further exploration of sub-topics. The TAG is set to operate for the next two SCU events, with its tenure lasting until 2027. If the committee proves effective, there will be consideration for its continuation as a standing committee.
We are pleased to report that the regional calls have already commenced and have been highly successful. These initial meetings have set a positive tone for the TAG, showcasing the value of shared expertise and collaborative problem-solving.
