In the whirlwind of sports events and community engagement, the journey of participants from Team Indonesia at the SCWC Doha 2022 is nothing short of inspiring. From representing their skills on the global stage to extending their passion for sports to uplift communities, their impact resonates far beyond the field.
Take, for instance, one of the remarkable participants who, fresh from the SCWC Doha 2022, swiftly found herself donning the jersey as a member of the women’s football team in South Kalimantan for the Regional Sports Week 2022. The seamless transition from one prestigious event to another demonstrates not only her talent but also her dedication to the sport.
But her journey doesn’t end there. She took her love for the game to the streets, quite literally, by joining Jakarta’s women street soccer team for the National Recreational Sports Forum 2023 held in West Java. The culmination of her efforts resulted in her team securing the runner-up medal, a testament to her prowess both on and off the pitch.
However, the impact of the participants extends beyond winning medals and scoring goals. Seven individuals from the SCWC 2022 cohort chose to give back to the community by volunteering for the psychosocial support program in Cianjur, West Java. Their commitment to making a difference in the lives of children survivors after the earthquake is truly commendable.
For four months, every two weeks, these young people dedicated their time to deliver engaging game sessions for the kids in the refugee camp. Beyond mere entertainment, these sessions served as a beacon of hope and a source of joy amidst adversity. Additionally, they lent their efforts to organise children’s festivals, creating moments of laughter and camaraderie in the midst of challenging circumstances.
The journey of the participants exemplifies the power of sports not only to empower individuals but also to unite communities and inspire positive change. From representing their nation on the world stage to lending a helping hand in local initiatives, their commitment to making a difference serves as a beacon of inspiration for us all.
As we celebrate their achievements, let us also recognise the transformative potential of sports in shaping a better, more inclusive world—one goal, one game, and one community at a time.
