For the next 7 days, your generosity goes twice as far. During the Big Give, every donation you make to Street Child United will be matched, doubling your impact and helping to amplify the voices of street-connected young people around the world.
This year, your support is more vital than ever as we prepare for the Street Child World Cup in Mexico 2026, a global platform where young people demand their rights, share their stories and drive long-term change. With matched funding, you help make that stage bigger, bolder, and more transformative.
When Drika joined the Street Child World Cup in Rio in 2014, she was a young person looking for opportunities to grow, connect, and find her place in the world. After the event, Street Child United helped establish a community pitch and programme in Complexo da Penha, Brazil. It quickly became a space where local children could come together, learn new skills, and build confidence.
Drika became one of the community coaches. Through consistent coaching, mentoring, and showing up for the children in her neighbourhood, she was someone they could rely on. Her understanding of the challenges facing young people in the favela shaped the way she worked – practical, patient, and grounded in experience.
Over the years, Drika has taken on new responsibilities with Street Child United, including coaching Team Brazil at several Street Child World Cups and participating as a Young Leader. Today, she supports around 300 children each year, helping them access sport, learning opportunities, and skills that strengthen their pathways into education, training, and work.
In 2017, the BBC recognised Drika as one of its 100 most inspiring women, a reflection of her continued commitment to her community.
Drika’s story proves that when you invest in street-connected young people, you don’t just change one life, you create leaders with the ability to change entire communities.
The Big Give is an opportunity to ignite the next generation of leaders like Drika.
Your donation, matched for the next 7 days, helps make the Street Child World Cup possible by contributing to:
· Travel and participation for teams from around the world.
· Workshops, child rights training and leadership development for young people.
· Creative and cultural activities that allow participants to share their stories.
· Youth-led general assembly bringing teams face-to-face with changemakers to champion the rights of street-connected young people.
Together, we can build more Safe Space programmes, support more young leaders, and ensure that every child has the chance to reach their potential.
Donate now and double your impact!
