Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. Yet, for millions of street-connected children around the world, discrimination remains a daily reality. This Zero Discrimination Day, celebrated annually on 1st March, we embrace the 2025 theme, We Stand Together, as a rallying cry for inclusion, compassion, and meaningful change.
Discrimination often locks street-connected children out of education, healthcare, and legal protection. It strips them of opportunities and entrenches cycles of poverty. But when we stand together, we can dismantle these barriers and rewrite their futures.
Breaking Barriers, Building Futures
Street Child United (SCU) is at the forefront of challenging the stigma and inequality faced by young people surviving on the streets. Through our international sports events like the Street Child World Cup (SCWC) and Street Child Cricket World Cup (SCCWC), SCU gives a voice to these children, providing them with a global platform to share their experiences, showcase their talents, and demand the rights they deserve…on an equal playing field.
A Global Movement for Change
Zero Discrimination Day serves as a powerful reminder that no child should be judged or denied their rights based on their circumstances. SCU works with grassroots organisations, governments, and advocates worldwide to ensure that every street-connected child is treated with dignity and respect.
By amplifying their voices, advocating for policy change, and fostering an inclusive society, SCU empowers children to shape their own destinies. Whether through sports, education, or legal recognition, the goal remains the same: a world where every child is safe, supported, and free from discrimination.
How you can stand together
Change starts with awareness, but it thrives through action. This Zero Discrimination Day, you can stand with street-connected children in the following ways:
Educate: Learn about the challenges street-connected children face and share their stories.
Advocate: Support policies that uphold their rights and challenge discriminatory laws.
Engage: Partner with us and learn how you can provide opportunities for these children.
When we stand together, we create a world where no child is left behind. Join us this Zero Discrimination Day and be part of the movement that believes in every child’s potential. Because every child, no matter where they come from, has the right to a future filled with hope and opportunity.
