Empowering Young Leaders with Guidance and Inspiration

January 30, 2025

At SCU, we believe in the transformative power of mentorship. This year, we are thrilled to introduce the Mentorship Block, an essential pillar of our Young Leaders Programme, where professionals from diverse industries volunteer their time and expertise to mentor our young leaders. These mentors play a crucial role in guiding ambitious young people, many of whom are former Street Child United World Cup participants, towards achieving their career aspirations, educational goals, and community projects.

The Mentorship Block runs for four months, featuring bi-weekly meetings between young leaders and mentors. Each young leader is thoughtfully matched with a mentor based on their future ambitions, ensuring they receive tailored support that aligns with their dreams. Our dedicated mentors hail from a variety of professional backgrounds, including academia, business, marketing, communications, content creation, project management, and law. Together, they represent countries including the UK, Qatar, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Switzerland, Spain, the USA, and Bangladesh.

Why Our Mentors Joined the Cause

Each of our mentors has a personal motivation for stepping forward to inspire and support young leaders. Some value the opportunity to give back and share their knowledge, while others, having witnessed Street Child United’s impact firsthand, are eager to contribute. Many have themselves benefitted from mentorship and now wish to pay it forward. Others see this as a chance to learn from young people, gain fresh perspectives, and be part of an initiative that fosters lasting change.

One mentor shared:“I am passionate about helping young people because I had mentors who believed in me and empowered me to reach my potential. Now, I want to do the same – to inspire the next generation, nurture their talents, and support them both creatively and personally.”

Another mentor reflected: “Having worked with SCU previously, I know just how incredible their work is. I’m delighted to contribute my skills and experience to help these young people grow and thrive.”
